Neons, Neutrals, and Nails

Here's another mini DIY tutorial for you guys! If you follow me on Instagram {@Lexiphebs} I posted these last night:

I used Essie 'Sand Tropez' as my base coat {neutral}, and Sinful Colors 'Hazard' {neon}.

If you want the diagonal tip, I just used a piece of tape to create a line. You want to make sure your base coat is completely dry, or else it will pull off some of the paint! In the picture about, you can see how the line is a little jagged. My right hand turned out much better ;)

While waiting for the stripe/tip/whatever to dry, I used a toothpick to draw random cheetah print shapes on my finger. These do not have to be perfect people!

I used an Art Deco black nail polish {the teeny, tiny brushes} to paint around my splotches. Once again, this is not perfection. That's what makes it easy fun! Yes, my finger was still tapped!

Here's the other hand without the tip yet! Nails are just so fun for me so I thought I'd share my latest ;)
I'll be back next week guys! Sorry for the lame posting week, I am super stressed and totally drained. I've had 11 hour days at work {except yesterday I had the day off miraculously} and doing a full post just honestly seems daunting to me! I did have some luck in the furniture game, I'll share some finds next week. Can't wait to share, I have lots planned for next week so hopefully it will make up for this week ;) I'm gonna take the weekend to relax and live mostly stress free so I'll see y'all Monday!

Have a happy happy weekend :) Enjoy!

DIY Neon Statement Necklace!

If you're like me, you've seen tons of gorgeous neon jewelry pieces, but sometimes they aren't necessarily in your budget. This necklace via Bauble Bar is totally gorgeous....

But $300 is way out of my price range. As a college student always on a budget, I thought I could come up with something similar for a lot less! Here's how:

I picked this necklace up for $5 at Charlotte Russe. They don't have a ton of jewelry online, but in stores all jewelry is $5!! Check out some local thrift stores, or options: 1|2

I bought some neon-yellow nail polish from Icing {about $4} but any brand will do. Because the pieces on this necklace are not clear, but have a taupe-tinge to them, I painted about 12 coats on. That seems like a lot, but it really depends on what necklace you pick up! Make sure the coats dry before painting another one, or you'll have funny globs or weird lines! I'm sure it would take less coats if the stones you're painting on are clear.

Make sure to let it dry overnight! If you do more than a few coats it's best to give it ample time to dry. I took this picture at night so it doesn't appear as bright, but it's for sure a statement!

And voila! This was a super easy project, and fun to do! If you have a little time and want your own fun statement piece, definitely try this out! It would be fun to experiment with different colors too I think! If any of you make one, let me know how it turns out. I'd love to see pictures!

Happy crafting and happy Wednesday!

Recap//Help me//Venting time

First off, let me just say that I'm sorry for being absent yesterday. I got back into town late, and I could have posted something but........ anyways. It's a sad day when I don't have any pictures to share from my weekend travels except these:

Gummy bears and chocolate. That's how we roll.

Tired out, lounging around in the hotel... Saturday night we went shopping and came back at around 8:00, and watched movies until 2 o'clock in the morning. This is living people!

He spoils me.
PS If y'all love VS Pink hoodies like me for being lazy/the gym/around the house, they're all $30 right now. I may or may not have bought five.

Second of all, I'm moving. In like less than two months. This is both totally thrilling and scary for me. If you refer to the title, this is where the 'help me' part comes in. Now I know this is a little odd, considering this is a fashion blog and not an advice column, but I'm getting a little desperate for some furniture fixings.
This is what I've bought so far:
Yes, a couch. Now, I must furnish a whole living room on a budget.... like a teeny tiny budget. So now I'm asking: where do you go to get good deals on furniture that doesn't look like you drug it out of a back alley? I've been to Ikea and Home Goods {mostly} but I'd love some more ideas on what to do. Have a great color scheme in mind? I'm all ears ;) I REALLY appreciate it! Like big time. This girl is getting a little stressed so I though my blogging buddies would be a great help.

Third of all, I promise I'll be back tomorrow with something I promised in a post last week. It's a good one! {Maybe I'm just biased?} Also look out for a "what I wear when I travel" type of post, those are always fun. Big changes are happening around here! Now that I'm not taking 20 credits a quarter, I'm really going to buckle down and spruce this 'ol blog up ;)

Happy Tuesday lovelies, I hope you all have an amazing and stress free day/week!

Mom and sister
Probably the only dog that isn't scared of fireworks... took her out for an hour long walk and she didn't mind them at all!
Fireworks my brother was setting off

I was super excited when I went into J Crew 3 days ago and this top was on sale with an additional 30% off.... how I love sales! I've also been totally wearing these boyfriend jeans out. They are so comfy and perfect for days when it's not scorching hot. Normally out Fourth here means it will be nice for the rest of the summer, but it wasn't as nice as it has been in past years.... sad face.
Anyways, I am off to Seattle to go spend some time with my boy!! Little roadtrip on a whim, but that's what summer is about :) I'm so excited! It's basically been two weeks since I've seen him... distance is hard but we'll only be apart for about a month and half until I move :)

What are you lovelies up to this weekend???

Happy Fourth!!

I hope all you lovely ladies have a FABULOUS FOURTH! This is a little preview of what I'll be watching tonight, fireworks at Fort Vancouver.... ahhh the northwest! Take time to thank those who are fighting for us and our freedom today, there's a reason why we're celebrating! While we're at it, enjoy good times with friends and family, good food and good treats :)

And because I can't not post something that has to do with fashion, lets just say if I had these legs......

Image via

I'd be wearing this......
Tee: J Crew {On sale!}
Skirt: J Crew {Similar here for less}

Nautical or Patriotic?

You decide which title suites this outfit better ;) PS.... This is the last time you'll ever see me with my hair up! It was one of those mornings... I am aware of the fact that I look bald/like a man/etc!

Top: Old Navy {Basically identical} | Skinnies: F21 {Recent, similar} | Converse: Buy here | Bag: Tory Burch | Necklaces// Rope: Target {Recent-on sale}, Anchor: F21, {Recent, similar-also in silver} | Watch: Aloha Stadium | Bracelet: F21 | Sunnies: F21

I love all holiday's, let's be real here.... but the Fourth of July is high up there on my list. Sweet summer time, barbecuing, good times with family and friends, cuddling with my honey under the fireworks, and of course, celebrating our country.... it doesn't get much better! With the nautical kick I've been on lately, it just so happens I was a little patriotic too! Can you say "all-American"? ;) How do y'all feel about this necklace?! I bought it at Tar-jay recently {I can't walk in there and not get something....} and I loved it at first sight... nautical... right up my alley! ;) But, this morning when I saw my brother, he said it looked like I was suicidal for walking around with a rope around my neck....I'm definitely not peeps! Anyways.....
 MAJOR PS You can't tell in these pictures, but I attempted caviar nails! Watch for a post that shows how to do your own!! :)

Happy Tuesday dolls! I may or may not be roadtriping :)

Anchors aweigh...

T-shirt: J Crew | Skirt: Nordstroms {Recent, similar here+here} | Flats: Express {Recent, similar- more of a sandal style} | Necklace: J Crew | Sunnies: F21 | Earrings: CR {Recent}

Can I just say that I am obsessed with this tee?! I am totally gushing over anything nautical/anchor print right now. I decided to make it have a little bit less of a nautical vibe by pairing it with the striped skirt and bright, contrasting flats. I love this skirt too, it is so comfy!! I was wearing it in this post, but in different colors. I'm super excited because today is my last day of work before I get 3 days off... yay!! Excited for a little relaxing, I feel like I haven't done it in forever!

Happy Monday loves!!!!
Linking up with #YOLOMONDAYS today!
